Webster Groves was sold to St. Louisans in the 1890s as the Queen of the Suburbs, five railroad villages that merged into one town of big porches and bigger trees. It has held the Tree City USA designation since 1983, and the century old maples of Central Webster and the oaks of Webster Park are the town’s signature. They are also, from a detailer’s point of view, a steady weather system of sap, pollen, catkins, and leaf stains landing on every car that sleeps outside. Yes. Sap needs solvent work and patience, not harder scrubbing. We remove it by hand, then decontaminate the paint and seal it so next season's drips release with a normal wash instead of bonding to the clear coat.
